Dr. Pate specializes in family medicine.
As a family practice physician, Dr. John Pate is trained in all major areas of family practice and is qualified to care for most of the medical needs of the entire family, from infants to the elderly.
Dr. Pate is a graduate of the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, and East Tennessee State University, Johnson City. He is a member of the Fellow American Academy of Family Practice and completed a Fellowship of Obstetrics and Family Practice at Spokane, Wash., in 1992. He is also board certified in family practice, which means he has fulfilled the necessary criteria established by the regulating board and has passed examinations that accredit him in the field of family practice.
A native of Hackensack, N.J., Dr. Pate began his family practice at Wadena Medical Center in 1992. He says he chose family practice medicine because he enjoys the variety of challenges facing family physicians in rural Minnesota. Dr. Pate also finds satisfaction in working with the “great people at Wadena Medical Center, Tri-County Hospital and associated organizations.”
Dr. Pate also serves as Medical Director for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) organizations at Tri-County Hospital, Bertha and Henning, and provides family practice care at Henning Medical Clinic.

Off Duty Interests and Activities:
In his spare time, Dr. Pate enjoys jogging, camping, following local sports and cross-country skiing. He and his wife, Ann, have two daughters, Cathy and Mary, and one son, Joey. They reside in Wadena.
